ULTRASOUND INSPECTIONS

HEAR LEAKS, ELECTRICAL DISCHARGE AND DEVELOPING MECHANICAL CONDITIONS

HIGH-FREQUENCY INFORMATION YOUR MAINTENANCE TEAM CAN USE

Accurate Infrared provides airborne and structure-borne ultrasound inspections for leak detection, energized electrical systems and mechanical equipment. Ultrasonic instruments translate high-frequency sound into information a trained technician can hear, measure and document, even when the condition is difficult to distinguish from normal plant noise.

Because ultrasonic emissions are generally directional and localized, the technician can move toward the strongest signal, identify the suspect component and record the finding for repair or additional testing.

LEAKS

Locate compressed-air, gas and vacuum leaks created by turbulent flow at the leak site.

ELECTRICAL

Screen for ultrasonic signatures associated with arcing, tracking and corona where the equipment and access permit.

MECHANICAL

Evaluate bearings and lubrication conditions to support planned maintenance and repeatable trending.

FIELD EXAMPLES

Representative imagery from real field assignments. Client, vessel and location details are intentionally withheld.

Industrial compressed-air fitting inspected for leakage

COMPRESSED-AIR FITTING

Ultrasound surveys can isolate high-frequency leak signatures at fittings, valves and connections.

Industrial hose and fitting at a documented leak location

LEAK LOCATION

Clear field documentation helps maintenance teams return to the exact component for repair.

ULTRASOUND APPLICATIONS

• Compressed-air and process-gas leaks
• Vacuum-system leaks
• Switchgear, substations and electrical distribution equipment
• Bearings and rotating equipment
• Lubrication condition and over-lubrication prevention
• Steam traps, valves and other applicable systems

FROM FOCUSED TROUBLESHOOTING TO FACILITY-WIDE PROGRAMS

Ultrasound can be used for one difficult troubleshooting problem, a facility-wide leak survey, recurring bearing routes or an electrical condition-monitoring program. Findings can be tagged in the field and documented with equipment identification, sound levels and supporting observations in a concise report.

Our certified ultrasound technicians coordinate with facility personnel to understand operating conditions, background noise, access limitations and safety requirements. Ultrasound findings indicate conditions that deserve attention and may require further testing before the repair method is selected.
